I stepped into a world where music meets visual storytelling in the most powerful way imaginable. MUSIC VIDEO – The Industry and Art of Music Video at Forum Groningen turned out to be a wildly inspiring and immersive experience that took me from dark industrial beats to glossy pop worlds — all framed by the gritty beauty of scaffolding and raw design.
The highlight? Seeing David Bowie’s haunting “I’m Afraid of Americans” in context. It hit differently in this setting, surrounded by vintage televisions and modern screens looping iconic videos. The exhibition didn’t just show music videos; it dissected them — their cultural impact, their style, their boldness. From Lil Nas X to Britney, from Missy Elliott to Nine Inch Nails, the curators didn’t hold back.

What I loved most was the physical setup — navigating a maze of industrial scaffolding made the whole thing feel underground, rebellious, almost like trespassing into the backstage of pop culture. And at the same time, it was beautifully lit, curated, and downright photogenic (yes, I took my time on those staircases — because wow).

If you’re in Groningen, don’t miss it. It’s not just for music lovers, it’s for anyone who’s ever been moved, shocked or inspired by a beat synced with a visual.
